Theatre celebrates our need to come together in the act of collective storytelling, and has the power to connect, challenge, and inspire each other.

I have a passion for telling stories that spark connection, challenge convention and ask difficult questions.

“There's a kid in the middle of nowhere who's sitting there, living for Tony performances singin' and flippin' along [...] So we might reassure that kid and do something to spur that kid 'cause I promise you all of us up here tonight: We were that kid.”

–Neil Patrick Harris, 2013 Tony Awards

That is why I believe in and love theatre education. I was that kid. Because the opportunities for young people outside of large cities are so few, I jump at the chance to participate in a chance to grow the thing they love. Imagine having to wait a whole year to take a class or perform on a stage – that’s the case for many of the young people I teach. I want to introduce them to new ideas, new ways of developing a character, instill a love of play, and teach them early that failing is one of the best things we can do.
